Received a new 1.0.2 iphone from the US a few months ago. Went to jailbread/unlock by connecting to my access point at home and going to jailbreakme.com. After trying to search for my wireless access point the iphone froze up (most likely when trying to allocate itself an IP address). Since then it would freeze at regular intervals (freeze as in stuck on 'Activate iphone' home screen with the slider not working. Eventually it stayed frozen permanently. I can reset and peform restores using iTunes however nothing has got it out of this state. Tried numerous apps on Windows such as ibrickr, ziphone, independance, winstaller .. no luck. Any ideas?
best method to use would restore with itunes which will restore it with the 1.1.3 firmware, then run ZiPhone 2.4 (http://www.ziphone.org/)
unclick all options then click in order jailbreak, activate, unlock. some people dont worry bout doing this but i always make sure i do.
click start...will flash some fancy code on iphone screen. when ZiPhone says Done! where Start was before (make sure not to actually click done) disconnect iphone and there you have your shiny new unlocked iphone.

anymore trouble just give me a holla.

cheers,
Peter
Upgraded iTunes to 7.6 and run a restore to 1.1.3 after placing the phone into DFU mode. The restore completed without error on iTunes however when the phone rebooted itself rather than seeing the 'Activate iphone' screen with the earth graphic and slider, I was left with the connect to iTunes graphic overlayed with the slider and top status bar! And still no response to touch screen input. Well at least I'm looking at something different for a change!!! Any more ideas?
run ZiPhone. choose jailbreak, activate. should get it out of there.

if that doesnt work there are a few other options otherwise you may have to send to someone to repair (around $60....free of charge if you send to me for iphoneae members only =) )

can contact me on msn if you want direct help.

cheers,
Peter
running a 'ziphone -e' baseband erase has actually taken the phone out of its frozen state. i now have the same home screen but the slider responds and i have a new pop up message which says "Repair Needed: iPhone cannot make or receive calls. http://www.apple.com/support". So this is good as I can now engage the numeric pad for emergency dialling. I then chose to run a 'ziphone -Z Y' after this though and it actually put the phone back into its frozen state! erasing the baseband though brings it back out .. but when I load my telstra sim it still gives the pop up message above. i tried a 'Reset Network Settings' and this fails freezing up half way thru. WiFi is also disabled. Any ideas? I'm so close Smile
got it working yet?
hmm u shouldnt have had to erase the baseband. its not gonna work till software is restored properly and then it is activated, jailbroken and unlocked.
cant really help out further with knowing exactly whats happening with the software, baseband and bootloader.

if you still have problems and cant get it up and running pm me and we can organize repair if you want.

cheers,
Peter
