Hi everyone, I just bought an iPhone 1.1.2 at the end of last year in Hongkong. The seller told me because iPhone is only signed to AT&T in the US, I can't activate or download any new software to my iPhone, or else it will freeze.

I also got one of those decoder things that u stick ur simcard onto (that probably only works in hk).

So now I'm back in Australia and changed into my Vodafone simcard and can't make any phone calls. The words Vodafone AU show up on the top left corner, but everytime I try to dial a number it returns to the home screen after the first digit. Oh, and I can't receive phone calls either.

If anyone knows what I can do to make phone calls with my iPhone please help me out!

And I'm a noob with gadgets so sorry if this has already been posted out before! ><

You may need to run iWorld, an application available via Installer and select 'Australia'

My Advice (always make sure auto lock is NEVER, VERY IMPORTANT):
Restore to 1.1.1 (Shift+Click Restore in iTunes, use iBickr do boot out of 'Connect to iTunes Mode)
Installl OktoPrep
Update to 1.1.2
Jailbreak 1.1.2
Soft-Update to 1.1.3 Via Installer (optional)
Add iclarified as source (http://installer.iClarified.com)
Scroll Down to iclarified (in Installer)
Select 'Geohot Unlock(1.1.2, 1.1.3)'

DONE

Just one more thing... the iClarified site doesn't work... is it a software or something? I guess I'll just download from another site?

nah you should be right. they tell you that so if you accidently update to a firmware that hasnt been hacked you cant complain and say that its not working anymore.

the iClarified site isnt a site. its a source that you have to add in installer by clicking sources, edit then add.

best thing to do would probably leave out the turbosim (or whatever brand you have) and software unlock phone
