OK, so you have bough , unlocked and have ready an iPhone and want to get it going on Vodafone.

Well, obviously just sticking in your sim will get you working on the calls side of things. But what about voicemail and internet. Well, to save you hunting, here is what I did.

INTERNET ACCESS
Internet is enabled through APN settings. To get there Go to -> Settings -> General -> EDGE

Here we put in an APN of 'vfinternet.au' and also put 'guest' in both the name and password. (note, dont put in the quotemarks)

CHANGING VOICEMIAL
Visual Voicemail is a AAPT option only. But you can make it so that the voicemail button on your phone dials your voicebank at vodafone instead. To do so type the following code:

*5005*86*121#

Then hit call.

Give it a bit, and the code will be set and your voicemail button will now dial your voicebank. Easy!
Thanks for the voicemail tip!!
Would you know the prices of the data packages for Optus, Telstra and Vodafone?
No I dont. But if you hit their websites the details are all there. Dont expect anything earth shattering Smile

Please help! Sad
I have an iPhone with a prepaid vodafone $29 Cap and a $10 extra's cap activated. I can get it to make calls, but when i entered in the settings above, it's still not letting me use the internet,it says that i am not subscribed to the EDGE network.

any tips, ideas or suggestions would be fantastic!

thanks,
Nicky.

I actually solved my own problem, for pre paid caps you're meant to type in live.vodafone.com,
however, i think that even when i'm not accessing the applicatioins they are still running in the background and hence charging me. Does anyone know how to stop them accessing the web unless i ask them to (ie. unless i click on the icon). All i've been able to do so far is just add dummy values under the Network EDGE settings, but this is annoying.

TIA,
Nicky

Hey nickyk! I have the same deal - prepaid - $29 + 10 extra. live.vodafone does not work for me!
Did you have to do anything else? i.e. ring vodafone and ask for activation?

Telstra: http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/plans/b...packs.html
$5 = 5MB ($1 per MB after that)
$10 = 20MB ($1 per MB after that)
$29 = 80MB ($1 per MB after that)
$59 = 200MB ($0.25 per MB after that)
$89 = 1GB ($0.25 per MB after that)
$119 = 3GB ($0.25 per MB after that)

Optus: https://personal.optus.com.au/web/ocapor...e=personal
$9.95 = 5MB ($0.30 per MB after that)
$14.95 = 20MB ($0.30 per MB after that)
$29.95 = 100MB ($0.30 per MB after that)

Vodafone: http://www.vodafone.com.au/Business/Busi.../index.htm
$9.95 = 2MB ($0.49 per MB after that)
$14.95 = 5MB ($0.39 per MB after that)
$29.95 = 100MB ($0.10 per MB after that) ($19.95 12-24 month contract)
$49.95 = 300MB ($0.10 per MB after that) ($39.95 12-24 month contract)
$99.95 = 1BG ($0.10 per MB after that) ($59.95 12-24 month contract)
$139.95 = 3GB ($0.10 per MB after that) ($79.95 12-24 month contract)

Vodafone looks best (out of these three) on the higher plans with contracts
Telstra if you want speed
Optus looks a bit rubbish
Hope it helps

with optus if you want a good deal get the turbocharge thingy. even though the call rates are high its all relative to the lower credit and lower rates. also you can use the net heaps and it all comes out of you MyBonus money.

i use the net all the time in class (i know...i should be listening) and charges are really low for some reason. used around 30mb last month and only cost me $6.
