So, after hearing the rumors about the new 3G iPhone, I called the Melb Uni mac store,
to be told that they knew the rumors about the 3G iPhone coming to Aus but weren't
taking pre-ordereds because they didnt have a RRP or actual date yet.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the preordering, where would be the
best place, how much they think it will cost and how to find out when the
pre-ordering lists begin.

Thanks, i stumbled across this website and i have to say its awesome!

BTW i went into the sony store in Melb centeral and they have a 16bg 2G iphone for
sale, asking $900ish i think.
Hi Hackattack, and welcome to iphoneae.

Pre-ordering wont be available until apple actually release their new 3G iPhone to the public, once it is released you will be able to pre-order, depending on where apple decide to release it and their timing. For example in the US it may ship the following day after the release but here it may take a week or two, who knows, hopefully they release it and ship to all countries the following day, therefore there would be no need to pre-order. Just walk in to a store and pick one up.

It seems strange that they would be offering a 16gb iPhone in a "sony" store of all places, here in australia and i hope your not referring to 2G as in second generation, this would be impossible. But even if its the current model there asking too much, especially this close to a 3G release.
the iPhone sony were selling was a 2G model. I thought it was very strange. I went in asking if they knew anything about the 3G iPhone coming out, they said no but they have a 2G one for sale. I didnt see it in any windows so it must be under the counter i imagine.

Thanks for the info. ill be checking this website and apple.com every day now hopeing for more dam, news!
