So I'm new to the iPhone craze sweeping the country and are lucky enough to have one of my own. A friend picked one up for me in Bangkok and it was already unlocked when i got it! It's all a bit overwhelming to try and get your head around all this firmwear/baseband/bootloader etc but I'm slowly starting to get an idea of what its all on about.

All of the iPhoneae forums have been a great help in getting my iPhone up and running but I've noticed some things that I can't work out and I'm looking for some help.

I've got my numbers set up in the contacts and if i receive a text then it comes up with the persons name but when i receive a call it doesn't come up with the persons name. I've got the numbers entered with +61 4 ............ and it's like it's not being sent with the prefix from the mobile tower or something to that effect. If i remove the +61 then the text message doesn't register who it's from but fixes the incoming caller identification problem. Am i going mental or is this a common problem and please tell me theres an easy fix?

I may have just sorted out the other problem but if it doesn't work out then I'll get back to you on that.

I'm running the 1.1.4 Firmwear and I've been reading all of this stuff about pwnage and from what i gather, will this mean that if/when i upgrade the firmwear then run this pwnage it will remain unlocked even after subsequent upgrades?

I've probably bored anyone still reading this by now so i'll' finish up and thank you in advance if you've got any advice for me!

1) install appsupport for your firmware in installer, this should help the number problem (i think)

yep jacks right. install both appsupport and region fix. will fix that all up.

lol! the rest of just sit back and cry and wish we were as good as normal_guy... me thinks that i need an iphone to know how to offer support for them

question matho...what unlock method are you using? most of the iPhone's from Bangkok i have seen use the turbosim method. might be a good idea to update to the pwnage method (will be writing guide real soon) as it will allow for future, custom updates.
