but I followed Normal_guys guide, jailbroke my phone, only now i cannot make calls or recieve them and get no reception and no longer says yes optus, although it did for a little while after i rebooted it(display yes optus that is making calls still did not work)
when you say making calls doesnt work...how doesnt it work? does it display a message like call failed or just doesnt call out?
try rebooting again...if that doesnt work, restore you phone again and then use ziphone to "do it all" again. sometimes just a glitch in system files that fixes after a restore.

yeah first of all it would say call ended, but now it just hangs and doesnt dial at all, but there is no reception either and before with my pevious version i had full reception.
ill try to brake it again!
also is it important to be in recover mode?
I can seem to get it in recovery mode it just switches off when i hold both buttons down!

DFU and Recovery mode are different
you have to be in DFU for it to fully restore baseband and firmware...otherwise it will just update and thats probably why you have no reception...1.1.4 trying to work with a 1.1.3 baseband which will corrupt it.
ok on my 3rd try now,
second try it worked and then same got no reception but could not download through installer app either kept failing
make sure you are in DFU mode...iTunes will tell you if you are.

did it a 4th time now, same thing, I notice that when i goto settings and then click carrier it goes to next screen and then says error..

will be completely fixable. this problem happens when something went wrong with initial unlock...meaning it would of happened even if you stayed on 1.1.3
